
Robert Giracello, PhD Educator
I Received my PhD from UC Riverside in December of 2010. My dissertation, Stations, is available on request or at the UCR library. My topics of study included the theatrical and musical motivations of Stephen Sondheim, the writings and works of Arthur Farwell, and computer music programming using the ChucK programming language. It was the first Doctorate degree in Music Composition UCR ever awarded. My committee chair was Dr. Timothy Labor. Dr. Paulo Chagas and Dr. Renee Lysloff also served on my dissertation committee.
I received my M.A. in Music Composition in May of 2009. My thesis was in two parts: an analysis of Berio's Sequenza V for Trombone, and a cantata for 15 instruments titled Each to Each: Cantata for Prufrock. My thesis advisor was Dr. Renee Coulombe, and I also studied with Dr. Labor and Dr. Chagas, as well as Dr. Byron Adams.
I received my B.A. in Global Arts from CSU San Marcos, where I studied with Dr. William Bradbury.
I've also studied composition with Dr. Martin Herman, Dr. Bruce Miller and Dr. Cindy McTee.
I studied choral conducting with Dr. Lynn Bielefelt and Dr. Rodney Eichenberger, opera under Henry Venanzi, and voice with Jonathan Mack.
